I really want my Sun Conure to have a big cage, but I am in love with the design of the second, smaller cage. So, I'm wondering if my conure even needs a cage that big. I'm having a difficult time deciding, please help, thank you (:
Your new bird needs the first cage, no doubt about it. I don't even have to think about that one. The second cage might be good for a parakeet, but even I would get a larger cage for a cockatiel! The cage has no room what so ever, and it has no width to it. The conure wouldn't even be able to move around, he would be sitting in one spot all day, barley able to spread his long wings out. The first cage is good quality for one, and more importantly, large enough. Your conure would not be happy at all in the second cage and could end up with issues such as feather plucking. Also, not many toys would even fit in the second cage.
Edit: It doesn't matter how often your bird gets out of his cage, his cage is his home, and therefore needs to meet the requirments of a good quality, large enough cage. Besides, he's probably going to be spending most of his life in there.
