what bird should i get?
i had a cockatiel that died last year and now i'm thinking of getting another bird. I've been researching quaker parrots and i'm pretty sure i want to get one of them but i just want to see if there's any other breeds that would be good for me. i've still got the cage and all the toys, the cage is about 50x50cm and height 1 metre (about 18"X18"X33". I think). I've gotta go to school for 6 hours a day so i can still spend with it about 5 hours in the evening and most weekends i'm home all the time, so i've got quite a bit of time i can spend with it.
if you've got a quaker i'd also like to hear the good and the BAD about them.
Honestly, My favorite species of bird is the budgie. It's quite a challenge to get their approval and be one of them. That and you can have several in one cage. Right now, I only have two and two cages but no doors on the cages and they sleep in the same cage and spend all their time together. And they don't mind me joining in with them. Plus they are inexpensive and don't sell out on their affection. Very intelligent for their size and each one has their own personality. I had a budgie who died sept. 18, 2001 and he was 17 years old, so they can live longer lives than most think. But they are accident prone, at least some are. And they can learn to speak believe it or not with a strong bite but not one that can take off a finger tip.
