Where can I buy a leash for my parrot?
I have been to many pet stores and have seen the "aviator harness" types but my bird won't allow that level of handling. I am looking for the kind that just attaches to the leg instead of the whole body. Any suggestions where I can purchase one online?
A parrot's legs are far too weak for a leg based restraint. You tend to see leg based restraints (jesses) on falcons and other birds of prey. These are birds that actually live by their ability to catch and restrain other animals in their talons. Unfortunately, parrot legs are built for perching and aren't as robust. A leg restrain would very easily break your parrot's legs. The only two solutions are either through training or a harness.
While it is possible to train a parrot to sit passively on your finger, arm, or even shoulder, it's not advised to do so for the shoulder. This is because as the parrot gets older, it becomes more aggressive and is more likely to bite. This can be quite dangerous if you wear jewelry in your ear, and possibly still dangerous without jewelry. I would seriously recommend either a harness or not putting your parrot in any situations where it would need restraint.
