Looking for a sewing machine.?
I am interested in buying a sewing machine for myself and was wondering if anyone can recommend a brand and model.
It has to be inexpensive, as I am just starting out and don't want to invest too much money for a hobby I may not stick with.
It has to be very easy to learn and use- I have a little sewing experience from when I was a kid and made pillows and blankets for my dolls- but that's all I've ever done.
It doesn't need any bells and whistles. I'm just looking for a straight-forward machine for hemming, crafts, and hopefully some simple garment-making.
I have the Brother that you can get at Walmart for under $100. It's a good little machine with a few stitches (wish I'd gotten the one with the one-step buttonholer instead of the 4-step).
It works with everything from silk to denim and other than oiling it whenever I use it and cleaning the lint/fuzz out it's held up good for almost 5 years. I use it often and go thru spurts of almost over using it.
Good luck and have fun sewing.
