Ahh! There is nothing like lying in a hammock, reading a good book, relaxing, or taking a nap. But take the advice of a Pro buyer, purchasing the cheapest hammock is not always the best choice.
As a pro buyer, I have purchased well over three hammocks, and started off buying the cheapest one, but soon found that I should have paid more attention to the materials and the type of hammock I had bought. That particular one only lasted a few months. The type of hammock you buy will also depend on several factors like where you are placing it, the kind of portability you need and of course the amount you want to pay.
For instance, a rope hammock is fine, if you don't plan on taking long naps, and don't plan on putting it near a pool. Imagine yourself, gently swinging in the breeze, enjoying the sunlight and the lazy afternoon, until someone jumps into the pool and gets that comfy rope bed all wet. Wet rope tends to chafe and that soon becomes extremely uncomfortable. If you like napping in a hammock, then you may not want to choose a rope one. It can be difficult to get comfortable enough to sleep in one, and any movement may cause that rope to rub the wrong way. In these cases, a fabric hammock may be your best bet.
If you do decide to get a rope style then you want to look for synthetic rope. These are made of a polyester material, which won't stretch out of shape, like other regular hammocks. There is nothing worse than having a big sagging section in the hammock that eventually breaks and creates a big gaping hole.
Synthetic ropes also withstand the elements much better than other types of materials as they tend to dry out quickly after getting wet. This type of rope hammock doesn't tend to irritate the skin like other types do.
There are many types of different hammocks available, and the type you choose depends on where it is being placed. Fabric ones are a great option, but have to be cared for and brought in during the winter months. Rope ones also work, but the synthetic rope withstands the elements better, and is a lot more comfortable than the traditional rope hammock. When you go looking for a hammock just be sure to find one that is made with quality materials, before you start comparing the prices.
