I want a bird! Help picking on out please?
Ok, so heres what I'm looking for- Something under $500~ kinda colorfull~ eat normal bird food (nuts and such) and preferably able to learn talking. The only one that I REALLY need, is the price of the bird. Thanks for your help, and I know that the bird is going to be expencive if you include vet bills, toys, ect. Which is why I want a bird under $500, why make it any more expencive then it has to be? Again, Thanks
And I want one that lives for a LONG time (im talking like, as long as humans) death of animals makes me cry... Hard. For hours. And days. And weeks. And months. And years.
Ok well take it from me, it's greta to do your research and all and figure out what kind of birds are right for you, but it helps a lot to go to your local bird store or breeder or pet store [though I really don't suggest getting a bird from a pet store like PetCo or PetsMart] and asking them what they have and what would be right for you.
Yahoo answers is convenient but a full on conversation with somebody who really knows birds can help you a lot.
But for my YahooAnswers answer:
-First of all, any bird under $500 is going to be a smaller less-longer-living sort of bird. The bigger birds tend to live longer, and cost more.
-Also, most parrots eat the general same sort of pellets and dried fruit but pleas PLEASE realize parrots require much more maintenance than this! Parrots eat MEALS practically. They require FRESH fruits and basically the same variety of things people eat.
-Also, an African Grey, as Jemimia suggested, is totally not in your price range......they cost around $1,000? One of the best [if not THE BEST] talkers and live very long as well....but WAY out of your price range, unfortunately! :[
I suggest for you, a Quaker or Maybe a Conure.
They are probably going to be at the top of your price range for a hand raised baby or adult as opposed to $10 pet store budgies, but they are worth it!
Out of birds under $500, they have high talking abilities and live longer then littler birds like budgies/cockatiels.
Look them up though. Do some research, and go to your local bird store and ask them for their own opinions. They can help you the most, just make sure the store seems reputable and decent. :]
