The time it takes to attract birds will vary with the food you use and where you live. It also depends on how easy the food is to see. If it is in a closed feeder it will take longer than an open one. When I first started feeding birds, I used a "bell" of seeds that were hanging from the tree totally open to view. I saw two chickadees on it the very next day. Once birds began coming to that spot I switched to a typical feeder. The best type of bird food to start with is black oil sunflower seeds. It is the most readily available and attracts the widest variety of birds.
