Ferrets make terrific pets, they have their own personality and are natural comedians. If you have ferrets, or are planning to adopt some, there are many things that make the little guys happy. He's a list of suggestions in no particular order.
Raisins -like people, ferrets have different tastes, however many ferrets enjoy raisins as treats. Just be careful not to feed them too many raisins as they can make them sick. Two or three at a time as fine.
Chew stars -of the 40 or so carpet sharks I've owned over the years, all of them enjoy chew stars. Marshal has made several flavors over the years and you can experiment to decide which one your ferret likes best.
Hammocks -all ferrets like to lounge about in hammock. Make sure you hang your hammock high enough that the ferret hangs freely and doesn't brush up against a hard surface such as the edge of a litter box.
Paper bags or crinkle sacks -there's nothing more fun for ferret in exploring new places. A paper bag provides a dark hole as well as the ability to make noise, some of their very favorite things. You can get a crinkle sack designed for a cat, but the plain old grocery bags work just as well.
Stuff to steal -ferrets naturally "borrow" items left lying about, you can save your socks or car keys by giving them other interesting things to take. Just be sure it's something they can't eat hurt themselves with. For example, the remote control has little rubbery buttons which they can chew off, and if swallowed can obstruct their digestive tract requiring surgery. The best things you can leave out for them to steal are toys, like balls, bells too big to eat, and little ferret sized pillows. You can also use crumpled bits of wrapping paper which are fascinating to ferret kind.
Water in a spill proof dish -it's a good idea to have fresh water available for your pet when their outside their cage. And added side benefit of a bowl full of water is you have are ready made kiddie pool sized just for a ferret. Just be sure to put in a place mat, a towel because they do tend to make a mess.
Blankets and towels -ferrets enjoy burrowing or tunneling, and an old towel or blanket is an easy way to indulge them in this practice. Just make sure that your friend cannot get their claws caught in the material -fleece is a good choice.
Chew sticks - much like dogs enjoy chewing on a good rawhide bone, some ferrets like chew sticks. This gives them something to do and can help eliminate boredom.
Fun toys for your pet don't have to be store bought, with a little ingenuity, you can keep your ferret, and yourself entertained for hours on end. Much like children, I've had ferrets that enjoyed the box a toy came in more than the toy itself. Watch your ferret and see what they like.
