20 gallon long hermit crab tank suggestions.?
today i picked up a 20 gallon long fish tank. I switched everything from my 10 gallon to 20 gallon.(will be getting more sand and dirt). I have half sand and half of the eco earth. theres about 2 inches of each substrate, like i said i will be getting more. i have 2 pieces of climbing wood. I have a salt and freshwater dish. I have a giant sponge for moisture too. I have a food dish with two different types of foods and sometimes they will get a fresh treat. I have two coco huts. I have a plant for hiding. I have calcium blocks. I have tons of shells. Also my moisture stays good and my temp is around 75 usually(i have a basking light when it gets colder.) I have three crabs and probably getting 7 more for ten total. Im pretty sure thats it. Am i doing good?What else can i get for toys? Thanks

I think you're doing really great. I know you already said you were adding more substrate, which is good. Everything sounds really great but if I were you I'd get rid of the sponge. It can grow bacteria that can kill your crab. A great replacement is moss. It keeps the moisture up, your crabs will LOVE to bury in it, and they will eat it when it starts to decay so it's a tasty treat.
Also, if I were you, I'd feed them all fresh foods instead of commerical. The commercial foods really do nothing for them. They're scavengers and need LOTS of variety.
A fun thing to do with bigger tanks is add a second level. Some people use hemp nets that they suction to the sides of their tanks, a lot of people use plexi glass (that's what I did) to build a second level, or they use shower caddys for second levels. Your crabs will love climbing all over. I put the moss on my second level and put all of their extra shells on it so they don't fill with sand and the crabs really love it.
