As any parrot lover knows you cannot on a regular basis leave these birds alone. Somehow, unless I am ready at the drop of a hat to leave them alone in their cages all day, spend many nights away and only give them some attention when I feel like it and only for say 15 minutes or so a day I'm a 'crazy bird lady' and a shut-in.
People dont understand and think they are just, 'f*!$ing birds' and that I am destroying my life by having them and cannot comprehend the guilt I feel if I leave them alone all day and then dont come home at night.
Im so frustrated. To me, it's like having kids. Ergo, I try to bring them both wherever I go and, because I dont expect everyone to like or want them (like with someone else's kids) I'll stay home most of the time.
Get some new friends with birds. Join a bird club or volunteer at a bird rescue. THEY will understand.
You are not crazy( unless I am too) I do not leave my birds either. Actually they keep ME from going crazy. One solution is to get a friend with a bird and exchange occasional birdy sitting chores with them
