Which kind of parrot?
I got a free 6 foot high, domed like top and 3 feet wide and 2- 2 1/2 deep. But on the way here my current parrot died..... he was a quaker. and I am devastated. what kind of parrot would be best> I was thinking a Eclectus, but I so not want a macaw, too big. even though I have a macaw cage. amazons, na. but what is a large parrot, is cheaper, and is very friendly?
The reason I want a cheaper parrot is so I have the money for food, toys and vet.
First off do you know why Your quaker passed away?
next be sure to wash that cage EXTRA GOOD taking it the car wash and power spraying it is easy for larger cages
after that hun your on the internet start looking into the breeds you desire..
Just know quakers have 200 lbs of pressure in their beaks if you ever have been nipped by one you know,, now your talking Much larger birds.. that are awesome don't get me wrong but many people tend forget they also go into their teen age years where they extremely hard to handle, let alone when it become their breeding season
you need to do your home work just pop the bird your looking for into your search engine and read red read, join bird groups, maybe time permitting a local bird club
Just know you need to be respect full of the beaks the bigger the bird the more damage it can do to you and your home they have busy beaks kinda think of it in the lines of say a dog.. a small dog bite can hurt like crazy but the damage in normally small.. Large dog can rip the facial muscles and more, see where i am going with this ??
Home work and then realize to who is in your home that will be interacting as well with a larger bird, little toddlers have no fear and will stick their hands where you might not want them nor the larger bird might want them,...
