How Do I Get My Parrot to Play With Toys?
he just ignores them, when i take him out to play with the toys he just runs round or sits on my foot
Funny enough parrots do not naturally play with toys 
It isn't a natural instinct for them to go up to a toy and play with it right off the bat. Especially if they are not use to toys.
It is only their natural curiosity that makes them check a toy out and decide, Hey! you know what? I could beat this thing up, or shred it to bits!
Let him get use to the toys, some parrots like different things. Let him slowly discover what he can do with a toy by leaving him in the cage with it.
When you let him out of the cage it isn't odd that your parrot has no interest in the toy you have. You are the best toy of all! He is probably much more interested in you.
What kind of parrot is he? Some parrots like different things. Some like soft woods they can rip apart. Or long hanging toys they can hang from. Some like bells they can ring until you want to cry. Some like shredding toys or toys made of something soft that they can preen. And some have no interest in hanging toys but like toys that they can play with at the bottom of their cage, wood blocks/bell-balls.
