As adults, we often do not consider the implications or the consequences of certain television programs on our children. How children interpret what we consider harmless is often far more serious than we think.
Consider the following:
T.wo V.iews
Oh yes we laugh, it seems quite funny,
At the antics of that bunny. His nemesis,
That fellow Fudd, is tricked and toyed with
By "Ouuu, that Wabbit!"
Fudd's creators give him tools, a gun and net
And still more yet - perhaps a cannon will
"Get that Wabbit."
Alas for Fudd, it's not to be
Because that rabbit is fleet of foot you see.
Another Wily critter has ambitions
He will undo a bird. And yet that bird,
Whose actions match the hare,
Does cause that Wily critter
With all his Machiavellian fare,
Rockets, bombs -- all means grievous,
Rocks and falls and all that critter's plans do fail.
A speedy cloud of dust announces
Bird's approach to critter's planned destruction.
As Wily critter waits in sly anticipation
Wily critter fails of course (his plan is turned against him)
And It's then we see that bird for just a blink
As he sends his famous message to that critter with a wink
"Beep, Beep!"
Children of all ages take customary seats.
In years they number two (and often less)
To scores and sometimes more I must confess
In front of infernal gadgets where they view feats (?)
Fudds undoing and Coyotes defeat
And other comic scenes which really are ferocious.
Then often try to mimic what they have seen.
Especially the precocious.

We give our children toy guns, a set of bow and arrows (with suction cups as arrow heads) and other seemingly harmless toys. We then expect them to use these so called toys properly after viewing cartoon characters on TV that attempt to do each other in.
Many of us consider fireworks harmless and often use them even in those states where then are illegal. Perhaps we permit our youngsters to use firecrackers, objects that are very similar to the "bombs" shown in the cartoons. Do our children then, carry the impression that firecrackers and other fireworks are not dangerous because cartoon characters were not seriously injured or Killed?
As parents, we should give considerable thought to what television programs our little people are permitted to watch and what counseling they are given by us about the content.
