HELP my bird wont stop screaming.. why?!?
HELP! my Indian Ringneck will not stop screaming!
this bird is about 6 months old, is very sweat and not a biter. He gets out of his cage a lot and hangs out with me. he gets a veriaty of fruits & veggies along with 2 1/2 teaspoons of Harrison's Bird Foods pellets and loves them. I string veggies from cage and hide them around the cage and in toys. He has many things to chew on and swing on.(i have him in a large parrot cage) He gets to see plenty of action and has access to look out the window.
He is a very normal,(takes baths, alert and active, eats & drinks normally, & gets a good nights sleep) He is well behaved and gets plenty of attention and time out of his cage.
He does he scream so much? he even does it when he is on my shoulder.. ouch! he mostly does calling screams.
I understand when they scream in the night and morning but i would like to reduce the amount of screaming. Also when i have him out he goes crazy and cant stay still. cant fly, any way for a workout?
"Often parakeets will scream out of stress or fear. The best way to deal with this situation is to train your bird with patience and kindness. If your parakeet is screaming, the worst thing you can do is react to it.
Don’t throw water at them, don’t scream back and don’t give them what they want. If your Indian Parakeet is screaming because they want your attention, don’t give it to them. If they’re screaming because the dog just walked into the room, don’t chase the dog out.
The key here is to train them to perform an acceptable behavior in place of the screaming. If you react, you are instead training them to scream. The same holds true for any undesirable behavior including biting. Reacting only serves to reinforce the behavior."

Why don't you craft a bird toy necklace for your bird to play with he's on your shoulder or is he calling a mate from another room - or when you leave tell him good bye & greet him hello when you come back so he doesn't scream "Where Are You - Why aren't you Answering Me?
