Ecotrition Hamster/Gerbil Mix?
I have been feeding my hamster Hazel/Harry mix by Supreme. However, my local pet store has a shortage of it and they suggested that I buy a mix by Ecotrition 8 in 1. I purchased it an read the ingredients when I came home and am concerned. The mix contains minced onions, diced pepper red and green, leek flakes, celery flakes, tomato flakes and spanish peanuts as well as other ingredients which are safe.
The above mentioned ingredients are what concerns me as I was under the impression that these were bad for hamsters, especially tomatoes and onions. Any one here have any ideas if this is a good/bad mix? I know that Nutriphase and Kaytee are no good. Suggestions?
I would stay completely away from 8 in 1. I was reading today about there being a recall because the food is contaminated with melamine

Wow, those ingredients are awful. Hamsters cannot eat onions and leeks. Tomato leaves are poisonous.. which may be in there as well, whatever "tomato flakes" are.
I'd stay away from it, it's no good.
Hazel/Harry is the best hamster food. You should call around other pet shops and ask if they carry it.
You could feed Oxbow Healthy Handfuls, which is a pellet based diet. I'm not entirely sure how balanced it is, pellets only, but for temporary it would be suitable.
Oxbow has extremely high standars, and amazing pellets for rodents.
