Need an answer on a specific type of plastic material ( craft people especially)?
I need to know the name of a material and where I can purchase a large sheet of it. It is basically what milk cartons are made out of. A flexible fogged piece of plastic that is sturdy enough to stand up on it's own. Any suggestions would be helpful. I looked at plastic acetate, and it is too flimsy for what I need it for. I am making a Glenda the good witch costume for Halloween and the crown she wore appeared to be opaque plastic of some type. I have tried home improvement stores also and they had nothing comparable. Thanks in advance!
For a crown?
Styrene plastic (used by modellers for buildings, rail cars, , etc. available in a wide assortment of thicknesses and widths. A hobby sore that deals in model trains or aircraft will be your best bet.
A supplier for this to the industry is Evergreen plastics - do a web search and you should be able to get a catalogue of their products, and a list of dealers.
The plastic cuts easily with a #11 X-Acto blade, and you use a solvent, not a glue, so you essentially weld the pieces together. This can be done seamlessly. Many brands are available - most common is Testor's.
