Another bird bit my budgie's toe and it's in the process of falling off. How can I best help it now?
Has this ever happened to anyone else's bird? I have been applying neosporin to it at least 3x a week and keeping the cage clean... not sure what else I can do. It's not in with larger birds, another parrot just happened to be sitting on its cage while we were cleaning and it bit the budgie's foot through the bars.
I has a finch that got it's leg tangled in string it had for nesting material. I noticed it and took it off but the damage was done. The foot was never able to be used again. It turned black, and eventually fell off.
There is nothing that can be done other than what you are doing. But he will be fine. If a finch can learn to live without a foot a budgie can live without his toe.
