My parrot! Help required please.?
Hi i have a 5 year old African Grey parrot who needs lots of love and care as he is a feather plucker he was a rescue bird. My problem is NOT him plucking as this is getting better and he is growing his feathers back, my problem is that i we are going on holiday soon and i need to find a sitter for him i would prefer him to go into boarding as he needs constant company so he doesn't start pulling his feathers back out.
Can anyone recommend a good, responsible, reliable, trustworthy, knowledgeable, reasonable boarding company/person that he can stay with in Northampton, as i need to find somewhere soon so i have time to book him in and check them out.
I wouldn't trust those boarding 'brid places'. The only diseases birds can get are airborne and there is NO WAY that all of those places are disease free, not all the birds brought there may be vet checked, you know?
You can't ever be too careful. My answer to you is just stay with your bird. It was your commitment at first and this is what you have to do in order to take care of your animal. You could ask a relative to come to your house and watch your bird. I wouldn't traumatize the poor grey and make him think that his wonderful new owner that's taking great care of him is going to leave him. I wouldn't make him think that people will always leave him.
Keep him at your house, ask one of your friends, or one of your reletives if they can watch him.
That's what I'd do.
