Salmonella scare and peanuts?
I feed my two parrots jumbo raw in shell peanuts but just heard something on CNN about it is now affecting pets. I didn't catch the whole story, but it was geared toward dogs and cats. I'm now scared to give my birds these peanuts!!! Anyone hear anything about whole in shell peanuts?
I gave them each 3 yesterday and have a brand new bag I haven't opened yet. They def will not be getting peanuts for a while, just didn't know if whole peanuts are part of the scare so I won't be worried. I also have a fruit trail mix that has peanuts in it and they got some of that the day before.
These products are people food. Hines raw jumbo peanuts from the grocery store and the fruit trail mix is for humans too.
I read that article and a few others, too. I haven't heard of the recall affecting any bird products yet. Only those for cats and dogs. The recall mainly affects people, because it's mostly cookies and crackers that are affected.
