How can i hand tame my lovebirds? also can they learn to talk being part of the parrot group?
just got a pair as a gift from my hubby and i LOVE them...but if i try to stick my hand in the cage they bite me, they aren't very old so it doesn't hurt yet, or they fly like crazy and won't come to me, won't even perch on a limb if im holding it...i have a 2 yr old that birds are his favorite animal in the world, and he wants them to sit on his finger, but thats out of the question, they aren't tame enough yet...also knowing they are part of the parrot family, my hubby asked could they learn to talk...also any advice, pointers are GREATLY appreciated! please no ugly comments about having birds and a 2 yr old, he is VERY good with animals and knows to be soft, also i of course wouldn't let him be alone with them!

if the bird is very tame occasionally they will learn to say their names or other things, but as you can see it isn't talking so much as squeaking to sound like the word
The first thing you should do is take them to your vet or local bird store and get their wings clipped. Clipping their wings makes them more Dependant on you and easier to handle without fear of them freaking out and them flying into something and hurting themselves.
Since they are a pair they might never be very friendly but you should at least be able to get them used to you enough that they will step up. But they probably want to spend more time with eachother then with you ^.^
