a question about quaker parrot bird?
my quaker is almost 1 1/2 year old he/she was on the perch and my son and I were playing next ,the quaker felt but it wasn't our fault and now the bird think that it is ,because it doesn't want even to stay next to us and before he /she was like a tame bird ....what can I do to recover its trust ,or tame him/her again ?
Quakers are very smart, and do have definite thinking processes (I've lived with one for 4 years so I know...) He probably is associating his fall with some action of yours. At 1 1/2 years he's starting to move into the 'adolescent' stage of life, where he'll get moody, and perhaps nasty. Just try to handle him and talk to him as much as possible. It's worth it, because they are wonderful, funny, Intelligent, affectionate companions. Also, I disagree with the writer who said you can tell male from female by the chest bars and number/color of feathers. The only sure way to know a Quaker's sex is by DNA testing. Some say you can tell by the shape of their head, but I don't see that as true.
