What supplies do canaries need?
I am very familiar with parrot care and supplies but do canaries still need sandy perches,rope perches ,acrylic,chewing and foraging toys,etc.
Don't buy sandpaper perches. They irritate a canary's and other pet birds feet and cause sores, ulcers, and can lead to bumblefoot. Use wooden perches. Manzanita is one of the best woods for pet birds.
Canaries also enjoy swings and preen toys (bird pacifiers) to play with. They don't care for ladders, mirrors, or any foot toys. They need a cage roomy enough to fly in. Choose a long cage over a tall cage. Choose a cage that doesn't have more than 1/2" bar spacing.
Provide a cuttlebone or mineral block for calcium. Feed you canary a well-balanced diet fruits, veggies, hard-boiled eggs. Good quality canary seed, such as Zupreem.
You might want to buy septic powder in case to help stop bleeding.
A cage cover is good to buy to help your canary sleep (if you don't already have one).
