There is no problem with it and if the he has bedding, food, water, toys, etc, etc, etc... they do not care what the walls of their home are made of. Honestly I know people who modify bins like that and use them as permanent homes. Had one friend who had several bins, drilled holes in them to then connected them via various types of tubing. They connected them and it gave the little ones tunnels and different places to play/live.
