is a blue and gold macaw a good first bird?
i plan to train it (although have no expirience). i am home at 3 every day so can play with it. i am fearful of the noise because of other household members who enjoy tranquility. also i will not have much time with it in two years due to college, but my family will take care of it then. i also fear it will begin to pluck feathers when i leave.they are great birds and i would really like one.
Macaws are not a good first bird. And, in fact, since you say you'll be leaving for college soon, I would recommend putting off any sort of large bird. You may say your family is willing to take care of your bird but a large parrot is a HUGE responsibility -- way to many birds get rehomed because the family doesn't have enough time to devote to them.
