Can a old rabbit cage, be used for a chinchila?
im thinking of getting a chinchila, and i was just wondering if i could use my old rabbit cage, it was like 3 times as long as my old rabbit (a couple inches less then a foot. the rabbit was like a medium sized rabbit.) can i use this old cage for my chinchilla? it was big enough for a rabbit that was bigger then the chinchilla, it has no floors but i was planning on having a hut and like bridge for it to play on, btw are they nocturnal?
Yes they are nocturnal, and they do like height, so you'll need to put shelves up. Never ever use plastic shelving, never ever use those big plastic balls, and always a good quality food and hay, and safe chew toys. If you have never owned a chinchilla before they are very senstive creatures and you need to feed them properly, treat them properly and know what to look for in case he/she gets sick because they go die very quickly if they don't go to a vet and it's something serious that can kill them. I suggest you join a forum to learn all the do's and don'ts before you get one because there is alot of knowledge you need to know to keep it safe and healthy.
