Pet show for daughter?
My daughter is in grade one and wants to have a pet show. We have 4 pets and she wants to send out inviations to invite her friends to be judges. Each friend will be given ribbons for 1-4'th place and will get to spend time observing and interacint with each pet and then they will judge the pets. Or we were thinking of ribbons for 'pretties pet' ' friendliest', etc. If your kid showed up at home with this invitation, would you think it was weird? Should I do it or not? How would I organize and structure it so chaos doesn't erupt? If it takes all of 3 minutes, do they play for an hour afterwards, or should I try to prolong the event so it is the focal point of the visit?
I don't think that's wierd for that age. Go for it. You could also get some pet collars and jewels and puff paint and have everyone decorate a collar after the show for their pet or a neighbor's pet. That should take between 15-30 minutes. Then have snacks. You could make it into a sort of animal party. Think of all of the games that involve animals like pin the tail on the donkey. If she wants to stick to cats and dogs it could be pin the tail on the puppy.
