Next time you are hosting a party and are in need of fun, fast paced game you will be well served by considering a Bimini ring game. While the game of Bimini Ring has been around for centuries, its actual origin is the stuff of legend:

Many claim that Bimini Ring was created by Blackbeard and his band of pirates. It has been speculated that the pirates used the bones of their enemies for hooks and hemp found on the ships' deck for string and rings.

Others believe, without question, that the game was created by Ernest Hemingway during one of his infamous fishing trips to Bimini. As he sat contemplating his next great novel, he came up with the game as a way to divert his attention away from writer's block.

The truth, however, lies nowhere near the Caribbean islands. The concept of the game (swinging a ring suspended from a string and having it land on a hook), was created in England in the 12th century and was known as Ring The Bull. It was played using the ring from a bull's nose and the hook was often embedded into the nose of a stuffed bull's head.

Wherever and however the game got it's start, however, you owe it to yourself to try it out at your not next function. There is a reason it has been around for hundreds of years. It is simple and impossible, simultaneously. It as fun as a lazy way to pass time as it is as a competitive parlor game.

The next time you find yourself at a bar in the Caribbean, or a pub in England, ask the patrons where the nearest Bimini Ring game is...you won't be disappointed.
