I am caring for three young ducklings, and every night they dump their waterer inside their house and soak all their hay. It still gets chilly at night here and I am worried they will get chilled and get sick from being in wet hay at night. I can't attach a waterer to the wall because they are in a temporary plastic house while their real home is being built and it isn't possible to screw or nail anything to it. Will they be all right over night without food and water? I get up very early in the morning so they won't be in the heat of the day without water. Any other suggestions on keeping them from spilling and soaking themselves?
It depends on how young they are. Sure wish you could rig up something so they don't knock it over.
If they're getting ready to be out of their "house" then I think they'd be okay, but if they're still babies, they need a little water during the night. Mostly they just bunch up and sleep, but they may need it if it's dry where you are.
