My parakeet laid an egg without even making a nest.?
I've had my two parakeets Tag and Bedlam for over a year. I usually cover their cage at night when I go to sleep and this morning I woke up, took the cover off and there was an egg laying on the newspaper on the bottom of the cage. She was up on the perch, then started rolling it aound a little.
I went to take a shower and my little brother took the egg out of the cage. I'm assuming it's not safe to put it back now so I'm sittin here typing with one hand and keeping it warm in the other. What should I do? Is it really not safe to put it back? Will it die? What doo I need to keep it alive?

well...two things are possible.
one is that it was an unfertile egg and your parakeet was just stressed out so it layed the egg.
and the second thing that could happen is that it wouldnt hatch. i mean if it doesnt have proper care..and the parakeet was rolling it around....it probably wont hatch. you said you found it on the newspaper at the bottom of the cage, so that means that neither of your parakeets had been sitting on it. just go get a nestbox for your parakeets from petsmart...and be prepared for another egg to come.
