I want to make my own bird toys. Know any sites or have any construction plans that might help me?
I already am making some hanging toys with small blocks of wood, raw hide straps, popsicle sticks, feathers, grape vine balls, chinese finger traps, straw woven mini fans, and that "shredder" strips made of palm fiber you can buy in the bird section.
My birds love the woven stuff best. the finger traps, the straw fans, and that "shredder" product.
But that stuff is so expensive! Anyone know a site that shows you how to weave bird toys?
I have been buying dried corn husks from the store (the tamale kind) and cutting strips of it and weaving it into a braid, which my parrots enjoy but I would like to make finger trap shapes, more advanced braids and fans.
So any advise on a good weaving material that is bird safe and cheap would be great.
Also sites that teach you how to make the toy.
I would like to stay clear of sites that call for plastic pieces, metal chains, and other hard up chewable material.
