A dog that wants to 'shred' - any good toy ideas?
My dog is mostly a good dog and she's not an intense chewer, but she seems to want to shred things like her rawhide (and some other things I would rather she not). She 'unwraps' rawhide but doesn't actually eat it. My question is, is there something better that I could give her that would give her the sensation of shredding with her front teeth? She is a 50 pound, 11 month old Goldendoodle.
Shana, that is true but it is a nickname for a particular type of mutt and since breed info can be helpful, I choose to type goldendoodle instead of a poodle and golden retriever, mix. Plastic bottles and stuffing is a big danger if swallowed, so I can't do that. Cardboard is still not great but it does break apart, so it's better...
My Lab mix loved to shred things at that age, so I would give him our empty carboard boxes to play with. Once he had broken the boxes down, I picked up the pieces and threw them away.
Cheap entertainment....your poodle mix may like them as well.
