How come tim duncan isn't mentioned with the likes of jordan or magic or bird?
This might sound a little crazy, but think about it. Duncan has been great from year 1 (he's basically a lock every year for 20 and 10), he's won 4 rings (1 less than magic and 2 less than jordan and 1 more than bird). He's won MVP's in the regular season and in the finals, he's been selected to the all star game 10 times, the list goes on and on.
Because they are different types of players. Jordan, Magic, Bird, Lebron, Kobe, etc...they are guards who don't have to have someone get them the ball in order to be effective.
Look at Shaq, even in his prime, he was never talked about along with those guys either. Nor was Olajuwon or Malone or any other great Power Forward, Center or low post player.
Tim Duncan is regarded as one of the best Power Forwards to ever play, he's mentioned along with Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem, etc...
It's just people are more predisposed to the flashy guards, with all their fancy footwork, and the ability to actually take the ball from one end of the court to the other without anyone touching the ball.
Duncan needs to receive the ball in his zone in order to be effective. But he is one of the greatest players to ever play the game.
