Just like bees are drawn to honey, shoppers are drawn like magnets to free stuff. Have you ever noticed in the grocery stores those small stations offering free food sample in hopes you'll buy the product? Did you notice how everyone flocks around those stations?
Fall is the seasonal selling highlight for craft shows participants. These artisans and talented individuals have worked all year long producing vast amounts of inventory to sell at the upcoming holiday craft shows.
The show competition is always more fierce in the fall since this is the largest selling season of the entire year. So what can you do to make your booth stand out? What can you do to draw the shoppers (bees) to your craft booth (the honey)?
1. Free Drawing - two things are accomplished when you hold a free drawing.
* people come to your booth to sign up to win something for free which is booth traffic
* the product you plan to give away is labeled with your company name and website address which is branding and product marketing
2. Bargain Table - this works wonders in front of your booth at shows. You can create a table or a box that contains items you're closing out or trying to move out of inventory at discounted prices. Shoppers LOVE a bargain, and they'll swarm to a bargain discount table.
3. Buy One Get One Free - shoppers love this type of sale. Anything you can do to instill the mindset that the customer is getting something for free is an incentive for them to buy. If you and another crafter are both selling candles, if your booth is offering buy one candle get one free, it is a honey of a deal to the shopper and they'd prefer to come to your booth as opposed to your competitor's.
4. Free Samples - shoppers love samples. This is another chance to market your product, so make sure you label all samples with your company name and website address. Let's assume you sell candles and tarts. You give away small tart samples to your customers to try out your scented fragrances.
A small round nicely printed sticker label on the bottom of the tart should contain your business information, jazzed up a little with some artistic colored printing and graphics. It doesn't cost much, but it can easily steer buyers to your website.
Remember these things to draw shoppers to your booth and your website:
1. Free Drawings attract shoppers and give you product marketing and branding opportunities
2. Bargain Tables are a big attractant to craft show shoppers
3. Buy One Get One Free is a sales tactic that shoppers rush to take advantage of
4. Free Samples are excellent booth attractants and another way to brand and market your product to increase your website sales
It is important that craft booth sellers realize the shows are an excellent place to sell your products, of course, but don't stop there.
The craft booth is also a way to promote and brand your product so you can also steer shopping traffic to your website as well, so you should take advantage of your craft booth dollar and kill two birds with one stone, as the saying goes. Happy Crafting!
