How to decide how big eyes should be on toys? Where to buy different shapes?
I am making various toys out of leftover yarns. All toys intended for children have embroidered eyes. I am also making toys that would be for older kids or decor only and I want differently shaped googly eyes and/or unique eyes for such items as dragon, cats, lions, geckos, etc. Since I have to buy them from online shops, how do you decide what size mm to get? I bought a 6 mm googly eye, for instance, and it was way too small. I can't afford to get every size and need those bead eyes for my amuriguri animals as well (6 inches or smaller).
you can try using a ruler. by 6mm, it means 6mm across, as in the diameter of the eye, so you can use a bit of scratch paper, and draw and eye that you think is a good size, and measure the diameter. make sure the ruler is on the center. however large or small that diameter is, is how big or small the googly eyes you buy for that toy will be. good luck making those critters. i presume you're a really creative person.
