Tube feeding toy poodle pup UPDATE?
So, I went to the vet today, and this vet says she doesn't see any cleft palette. Now, I'm totally confused, but we'll see where this leads to. The large fontanel is still the main concern, but she's doing good considering how active she is. Luckily, my oldest female poodle has "adopted" the baby. She's had a litter in the past, and I guess it's her motherly instinct just kicking in. Too bad she can't produce milk, but she is doing an awesome job keeping the pup warm and is helping out with stimulating the pup to pee and poo.
With the cleft palette ruled out, should I try to start and try bottle feeding again? Tube feeding is becoming a huge challenge. The pup is fighting me with her total 5.5 ounces. I have a hard time even getting the tube in, so....should I go on and try the bottle feeding?
I asked this before, but how long does it normally take a pup to eat about 6 cc? Any other tips will be greatly appreciated!
Forget the bottle.
Forget tube feeding.
Just use a dropper. One or two drops at a time will be fine. And just feed her ever two to three hours. Two cc or more will be fine. If she eats less then feed more often.
