How do you get a Cockatoo to quit screaming?
We rescued a 10 year old, male, Med. Sulphur Crested Cockatoo back in December. He had a broken wing that had died. We had it amputated and he did really well and doesn't seem to be affected by it (it had previously been pinioned : ( ) He is is a large cage in our house, next to a Rose Brested Cockatoo female, who is VERY quiet. We take him out to play once a day and give him toys for his cage. But, he S C R E A M S a lot during the day. I ignore it most of the time. Or, we yell at him or squirt him with water. He usually squawks back at us "Spray me" in a nasty tone. But, he quiets down for a little bit. Any other ideas? I love this bird and he is very entertaining.
It's definitely a common problem with cockatoos. Yelling is counterproductive, and it sounds like squirting him isn't helping much, either
