Ok, so i'm planning on getting 2 diamond doves and breeding them. I did research them and like facts about them and everything, but that was months ago, and I can't remember everything. I do know they need a bigger cage. So I was wondering, would a guinea pig cage work? It's a nice size, medium, so not bad. It's on a stand, so it's up higher. And I would get perches to hook onto the sides. And the metal bars on the side are not too small, but not too big at all where the doves will escape.
If anyone can answer, what would the total cost be for 2 doves, about a couple of perches, food, and some toys. At petsmart, they are around $29.99 each, plus the price of all that other stuff.
But anyways, are they good pets? And are they easy to breed? I did read about how to tell the difference between a guy and a girl. I think the guy has like an orange ring around his eyes, i'm pretty sure. Well if you can help, that would be great! Thanks!
they are great pets because they make pretty sounds and are not as hard to care for as some of the parrots are...
a guinea pig cage is the right shape/size except that its not made for birds so will be hard to clean.. bird cages usually have pull out trays...
