she has adjusted pretty well she steps up already from perch to finger perch to perch and finger to finger and when in the cage i cant take her out on a perch but lately she just goes on the perch and then jumps off any help and shes taken a few baths in her tub of water in her cage but she still ahsn't played with any toys should i get her different ones she hasn't even played with them at all and any ideas for stimulation in her cage like foraging ideas? thanks:) and happpy holdiays:) o yeah and last night she was whistiling the frst part of the wolf-whistle but couldn't whistle the second part. so how would i teach her to wolf whistle.if she whistles does this mean she cant talk (she is a conure)
2 weeks is not that long really. I've had birds that took much longer to adjust to a new home (usually rescues). She just needs consistency with the step-up commands for going in and out of the cage.
Toys- She could just be wary of them. If they are toys like she's never seen before she could just not really know what to do with them. You can try different toys if you want, or just give her more time. (Toys should ideally be rotated out every few weeks to keep them "new" and to check for wear and tear.) They make toys for all sorts of things, foraging, and other mental stimulation, just look online at some good bird sites.
The wolf-whistle-- just keep doing it, eventually she'll pick it up. Whistling has nothing to do with talking, a bird can mimic whistles and other noises and still learn to talk as well, it's just all up to the indivisual bird.
