You dont need the Vitakraft parakeet treats..........................but you do need a good quality seed blend.
You dont need the Kaytee Kaybob bedding as corn cob bedding has been responsible for crop impaction in birds.
You dont need the beak conditioner. A healthy bird does not need these unnecessary products.
You do need a decent sized cage and wider rather than taller. Budgies like to fly across a cage and dont flit up and down a cage. Tall cages are for finches and canaries. Cage is best rectangular, wide and around 24 inches by 18 inches by 18.
You dont need any toys with mirrors. No mirrors. Despite "every man and his dog" telling people to put mirrors in budgies cages, they really shouldnt be used at all.
Not only do they "do their head in" and affect their mental stability, mirrors make them possessive and give them an imaginary friends to protect and feed and a reason to not bond with their owners.
Mirrors are the worst thing you can put in a budgies cage.
You dont need gravel perches, gravel paper or anything like that.
and best advice I can give you is do not rely on pet store staff to give you either good advice or sexing a budgie advice. they always get it wrong. All they are there to do is sell you stuff and most of which you dont need.
